CHAMPAGNE XAVIER D’ORSENAC

CUVEE NOIR BLANC

DISCOVER AN AUTHENTIC CHAMPAGNE

Champagne is called the king of wines for a reason: before being the symbol of celebration we all know, it defines first and foremost a region of France from which wines have been acclaimed as exceptional for almost three centuries.

Located less than an hour away from Paris, Champagne « terroir » is a combination of chalky soils and a unique micro-climate. This terroir is simply unrivaled when it comes to growing the famous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals.

Over the years, decades and centuries, winemakers from the Champagne region have perfected a singular method – called « methode champenoise », which has revealed optimal to express the endless aromatic potential of blending these varietals.

THE HOUSE OF XAVIER D’ORSENAC

Xavier d’Orsenac is the latest of Champagne Houses.

Yet, it is not founded by a newcomer, rather by the heir of one the region’s wealthiest and oldest landlord families. With a singular mission in mind: remain authentic to Champagne’s secular traditions, while being resolutely contemporary. It wants to cater to discerning clients who seek both ultra-premium quality and cultural relevance.

All wines are elaborated in the purest respect of Champagne processes by families of winegrowers established on the land for generations. Instead of selling their wines to more famous Houses, they have rallied to the idea of creating a new era of Champagnes. Together, they bring their exceptional « vins de base » for blending to one winemaker family who has consistently been rated one of the best independent producers in the region for generations.

CUVEE NOIR BLANC

The result is the first cuvee of the House, called NOIR BLANC.

The name NOIR BLANC is a tribute to Champagne itself: it directly refers to the nature of the liquid which is a blend of two grape varietals, a NOIR and a BLANC. In its very essence, Champagne is a wine that blends the opposites: the dark intensity of Pinots Noirs combined at perfection to the radiant elegance of Chardonnays. With all the powerful symbolic this entails.

To reach the perfect balance, the sweetness of the wine has been purposefully reduced. As any sommelier can tell, sugar is a common temptation among winemakers to camouflage some flaws in the wine while reducing their costs. The sweeter, not necessarily the better. NOIR BLANC contains half the sugar of 95% of other Champagnes called BRUT. With only 6g residual sugar /1L, NOIR BLANC is by law referred to as an EXTRA BRUT.

Thanks to the invisible yet very real ties of its owner with artists around the globe, the first batch released has been spontaneously adopted by the shapers of contemporary culture. Because of production limitation, NOIR BLANC will not intend to be your easy-to-find commodity, but rather something only those who know will seek.
